Symptoms

• Infestation seen on leaves, buttons and rachillae.
• The damaged leaves turn yellow and dry up(Image1).
• Button sheds from the damaged palms.
• Peak period of damage is summer season .

Control Measures

• In severe infestation, spray with Malathion 50 EC 2ml/L. A second spray after an interval of 30 days is recommended.
• Chilocorus nigritus is a major predator of the scales.
